The only thing that is as equally as important as the actual Superbowl game is the food. While most people expect the usual wings, beer, and nachos, I’m going to give you some different Superbowl desserts that will really sweeten up the game! Below are four simple, and exciting desserts to bring to your next Superbowl party.
Two of the recipes require already baked cupcakes. You can find my chocolate cupcake recipe here. Three of these recipes need my perfectly pipeable buttercream frosting. You can find that recipe here. My cakepop recipe can be found here. And, finally, my fondant recipe can be found here.
Instructions:
Super Bowl Sundae:
- Fill a large bowl with milk chocolate. Microwave for 30 second intervals and stir in between until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Set aside until the chocolate is no longer warm.
- Slightly stretch out a balloon and blow it up, and tie a knot at the end. Place the balloon directly into the bowl of melted chocolate so that it covers the bottom half of the balloon. Place the balloon on a piece of parchment paper, and quickly transfer to the fridge until it sets.
- Use a needle to pop the balloon, and remove all of the balloon skin.
- Transfer your melted white chocolate into a snap seal bag. With a pair of scissors, cut off the corner tip. Draw the football laces directly onto the chocolate football.
- Add ice cream and whipped cream directly into the chocolate bowl, along with sprinkles that represent your team color. And, of course, a cherry on top!
Football Helmet Cupcakes:
- Use a butter knife to spread the buttercream frosting evenly onto the top of a cupcake. There should be a rough mound of frosting at the top.
- Use the back of your knife to smooth out the frosting towards the liner and top of the cupcake. This will give you a more smoothed mound.
- Sprinkle corn flour onto your bench. Roll your fondant in your hands so that it’s the shape of a little sausage, and roll it out on your bench until it’s nice and thin. Use a sharp knife to cut the two rounded edges off. With your remaining piece, cut a piece that resembles a stick of gum.
- Line the fondant piece up to your football helmet, and lay down the center first. Stretch it out slightly if needed. Press the fondant down into the cupcake, and tuck the edges down.
- Wrap the cupcake wrapper into a circle so that the two ends meet in the back. Make sure it fits around your cupcake, and tape the wrapper. Use your knife to push in your cupcake, and use that same knife to also fix up any frosting if needed.
Superbowl Football Cake Pops
- Take your cake pop into your hands and begin to roll it. With your palms, roll it on both edges so that it starts to take the shape of a football. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- Take a lollipop stick and dip the top in dark chocolate. Push it through the flat bottom of your football about halfway through the cake pop. Refrigerate for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove cake pop from the fridge. Dip the entire cake pop into your dark chocolate. With your free hand, tap your wrists to let any excess chocolate drip off. Let it stand. You can either hold it or place it through a piece of styrofoam.
- Place your white chocolate in a snap seal bag. Cut off the corner tip. Pipe the football laces onto the cake pop, and the two circles around the top and bottom of the football. Let stand for about 20-30 seconds. Wipe the top and bottom part of the oval away with your finger, and a clean line should still remain on the cake pop.
- Cut off a corner tip from a snap seal bag filled with green buttercream frosting. Pipe various lines on the bottom of your cake pop that move up towards the top of the football to create what looks like grass.
Superbowl Cupcakes
- Use your clear adhesive tape to tape your pennant flag to the top of a lollipop stick.
- Transfer your white chocolate into a snap seal bag, and cut a fine tip from the bottom corner with a pair of scissors. Draw the laces and stripes on your Clinkers candy. Make sure you lift up the snap seal bag when you get to the end of each line.
- Use a spoon to dollop your green buttercream frosting onto your chocolate cupcake. Use the back of a knife to smooth out the buttercream towards the edges of the cupcake.
- Transfer your remaining frosting into a snap seal bag. With a pair of scissors, cut the corner of the bag in a V shape. Begin piping your grass frosting. Star in the middle, and work your way around. When piping, release the green frosting then pull away to create a grass looking effect.
- Place your pannet off center in the cupcake, and the Clinkers football closer to the center.
